...Infinite scrolling; but instead of increasing the length, it automatically opens a new tab for every new page...

Heyo, I'm new around here so sorry if this is out of line (or has been answered before), but have you ever considered adding a theme with pages to your blog? Maybe it's just because I'm tag-crawling instead of going through your masterposts, but having pagination so I can pick up where I left off would be super nice. (but then again, I suppose a lot of people prefer infinite scrolling) Cheers, keep up the great work!
Oooooo ya know I might, I just have never tried themes before so I’m not fully sure what I’m doing that way. I might try to look around at themes tonight and see if any catch my eye :D

4K Epic Mountain Drone Video Filmed By Eric Novak
Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your…

So I have a few questions now.
I don't understand, "Appearance Options: If you want to edit your blog’s title, description and avatar, you can do so in the customizer under “Appearance Options”. Editing your appearance in the Customizer is the same as editing it in your blog settings or in the blog view. Most themes will display the blog title, description and avatar you set here (but not all). Some themes may have extra settings that you can find and edit under “Theme Options”." Is this the same thing as what you do in mobile? The avatar and names?
"Open links in new window: Enabling this will make all links on your blog open in a new window."
"Use default mobile theme: If your custom theme is not displaying on mobile, you’ll need to disable the “Use default mobile theme” in the Customizer. This setting is enabled by default and will override your custom theme with a special layout optimized for browsing on mobile devices. Toggling off this setting is recommended only if your custom theme is responsive and works on different screen sizes."
"Preview: You can select between displaying different posts in your theme preview in the Customizer. Your options are: My posts: This will display all your posts in the theme preview. Sample posts: This will display a set of sample posts in the theme preview. Posts per page: Select how many posts per page your theme will display on one page. Note that some themes may have infinite scroll rather than a pagination."
"Add custom CSS: If your theme allows it, this is where you can enter custom CSS styles without making changes to the theme’s code itself."
I feel like I'm misunderstanding a lot here and feel like I might mess up if go and try to see how everything is... 😔
yes and no. the appearance options, yes, it’s the same as what you’re editing on mobile. but theme options are unique to whatever theme you choose and will let you choose different colors and fonts and stuff. this will only show up on your .tumblr.com site.
this just opens your link in a new tab when you click on it so you don’t lose the page you were just on
turn this off if you want your theme to show on mobile web apps like safari or chrome. if you keep it on, you’ll only see the mobile layout even if you visit the .tumblr.com version of your blog and you’ll only be able to see it on desktop.
this is just to help you while you’re editing your blog; it has no affect on your actual blog.
ok this is more advanced, and would require a lot of teaching because CSS is what really customizes a theme LOL. i suggest you learn via W3Schools or MDN web docs, but before any of that, maybe just get comfortable with the customizer first. there are already a lot of great free themes out there
unfortunately, there’s no way for you to actually understand and learn what any of this is unless you play around with editing your blog. you can always choose not to save and it won’t affect anything! plus, since you’re starting from scratch, it would be easy to reset anything you don’t like. don’t be afraid; messing up is part of the learning haha. good luck! 🩷

hello! while many, many hours deep into scrolling a blog, my browser crashed, and I had to restore my session. When the tab reloaded I couldn't help but notice that the site my browser tried to bring up was (blogname).tumblr.com/page/113, before it defaulted to the very first page with posts from 10 hours ago, and all that time scrolling was lost. Trying to navigate to ...page/113 gets an error message. Considering Tumblr tried to access that url and failed, is pagination in blogview supposed to be a thing and just bugged/unfinished?
if it was (blogname).tumblr.com then it depends on the theme that blog was using, most likely. themes can choose to do pagination however they want. some have infinite scroll, some have pages, some have hybrid solutions. it sounds like that blog may have been doing something weird, so i'm not sure, sorry.

kinda curious since i see your reblogs/comments re: the Following Poll mention infinite scroll a lot. are you aware you can switch your tumblr dash to pagination instead of infinite scroll? if yes, carry on. if no, you may wish to investigate
Yes, that's how I have it set on desktop. By infinite scroll I really just meant endless content.

hi! I'm using the sirius theme and just asked about infinite scroll, thanks so much for your response - I also saw that the base code developer doesn't like to use infinite scroll since it can be less accessible for users, which is totally fine! I love the theme as it is :)
I was wondering if you have advice on making the footer pagination "searchable"? in the footer where the page number is, I was wondering if that purple page number box could be changed so that I could type in and easily search the page number that I want to navigate to, instead of clicking the "next page" button multiple times! I'm not sure how I could code this, but if you have any advice, I'd appreciate it!
exact, in addition to not being as practical to code because many codes are affected by it.
i think it is possible using javascript. i searched for something on google and found this. if you know how to use javascript, you can try using this code here.
